Miller & Hightower, P.C. was established with the sole intent of representing and protecting individuals in the West Georgia Area who are facing criminal prosecution. It is our belief that when defending criminal charges, the accused has a distinct advantage when he or she has the assistance of a hometown lawyer who is not only knowledgeable of the law, but who is also familiar with the local courts and the locality in general. The firm’s founder, Michael J. Miller, grew up in Douglas County, Georgia and graduated from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia. Mr. Miller’s legal career began as a prosecutor for the Douglas County District Attorney, David McDade, and the experience he gained in Mr. McDade’s office allowed him to begin private practice in Douglas County as an advocate for those facing criminal charges. After prosecuting with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Miller began private practice with W. O’Neal Dettmering, Jr. Mr. Miller and Mr. Dettmering continued to work together until Mr. Dettmering was appointment to the Douglas County State Court Bench. Since that time Mr. Miller has worked diligently and ethically for nearly ten years developing a reputation as a hard fighting criminal defense lawyer in Douglas County and the surrounding areas.
In addition to Mr. Miller’s experience and reputation, the firm enjoys the talents of Mr. Dustin W. Hightower, who joined the firm after prosecuting in the Carroll County State Court. Mr. Hightower’s trial experience, his extensive knowledge of the Carroll County court system and the West Georgia Area, coupled with his enthusiasm and commitment to the firm’s clients has proved to be an invaluable compliment to Mr. Miller’s criminal defense practice.
